Two are located in Nashville, Tennessee and one in Destin, Florida with a fourth location being unveiled soon. The Red Door Saloon is a Chicago Style Bar located in the heart in of Music City and has become a staple to the music industry. This is our Midtown location which opened in 2002. Many musicians sing about The Red Door Saloon.
The success of our first location lead to a second location in East Nashville where the locals continue to thrive and enjoy The Red Door Saloon East, established in 2004.
Adding a twist to our drinks and our locations is The Red Door Saloon Destin in Florida, served with a beach view and established in 2008.
Let's look back to the beginning of the original location in 2002. Ric and his business partner were sitting on two railroad ties looking at the building that was to become the first Red Door Saloon. Ric is of Irish descent, and there was a period in history when Ireland was fighting with England. People would paint their door red as a way to say you are welcome, and this is a safe place. That brought the first half of the name to life. Ric added saloon to reflect out west in 1816.
A shoe cobbler once owned our first location. There was a hole in which all the leather shavings dropped through the floor. The hole came to represent a story, "All families have skeletons in their closets." Both Nashville locations have peepholes into the basement, to view these skeletons. You will notice flying skeletons placed around the saloons.
In Indonesia, the flying skeletons are similar to the Native Americans' Dreamcatchers.
We have too many to list. We have one of the most extensive beer menus and more drink specials than most bars and restaurants in town.
"You’ve heard of skeletons in the closet, but Red Door Saloon has a skeleton in the basement. It’s tricky talking your friends into laying down on a bar-room floor and peeking into a tiny hole in the wood but once they do, they will see a full skeleton. Who cares as long as the drinks are strong and the music is loud? There is a Red Door in both East and West Nashville, with both basements displaying the remains of a past life. And if you’ve ever envisioned a bar made out of money, then Red Door would be it. The entire bar top is made out of pennies. They serve up the finest brats in town, Chicago style, and the jukebox is always on loud." ~The Guardian
"This unique watering hole doesn't hold a large crowd. That makes it perfect for weeknight beers, happy hour drinks, and weekend night hangouts. The decor is interesting and will keep you occupied if your party starts to get bored. Look for skulls and cross bones, funny quotes, photos of celebrities, and walls lined with wine corks. If you're craving a drink during the day, you'll find plenty of like-minded folks hanging out on the deck at Red Door East. Red Door has a laid-back atmosphere, and usually carries a number of American beers in bottles and on tap. The best part is, the beer's always ice cold." ~USA TODAY
